Canowindra International Balloon Challenge
Canowindra International Balloon Challenge is organised by Canowindra Challenge Incorporated (CCI). The CCI is a community organisation and was created back in 2010.
Canowindra is a small but strong rural community situated in the picturesque and fertile Belubula Valley, a three and a half hour drive west of Sydney, New South Wales, and has a long history of hot air ballooning, dating back to the first modern hot air balloon flight in Australia in 1966.
Attracting balloon pilots to Canowindra’s wide-open spaces, rolling hills and gentle winds, Canowindra became known as the “Balloon Capital of Australia”. Every April, Australia’s largest hot air balloon festival and the Canowindra community welcomes over 5,000 visitors to the region, generating critical economic benefits to Canowindra and surrounds. Come for the day or stay a while and enjoy all this area has to offer.
Our team at the Canowindra International Balloon Challenge has been committed to producing a truly great experience. We are delighted to be noticed and awarded for the efforts of our committee, management and volunteers. Not bad for a town of 2,000.
